CVE-2023-38404: Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager (VIOM) Command Execution via Insecure File Upload Security Advisory
The XPRTLD web application in Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager (VIOM) before 8.0.0.410 allows an authenticated attacker to upload all types of files to the server. An authenticated attacker can then execute the malicious file to perform command execution on the remote server.

Summary
A vulnerability was discovered in the Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager (VIOM) XPRTLD web application.
Issue
The VIOM XPRTLD web application allows an authenticated attacker to upload all types of files to the server. An authenticated attacker can then execute the malicious file to perform command execution on the remote server.

Prerequisites
An attacker must have Admin access to the VIOM XPRTLD web application.
Affected Versions
Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager (VIOM) versions 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.3.1, 7.4, 7.4.2, 8.0. Earlier unsupported versions may be affected as well.
Remediation
Customers under a current maintenance contract should upgrade their VIOM environment as recommended below:
- Upgrade Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager (VIOM) Management Server to a minimum version 8.0.0.410 or 8.0.2.
- Upgrade VIOM Agents to minimum version 7.4.2.810, 8.0.0.410 or 8.0.2.0 depending upon supportability matrix.
