Easy easy, you’re both right.

The original code in the aforementioned commit was written during the v3.2-rc4 days, as Dan said, but it wasn’t merged into Linus’ tree until the following January, in time for the v3.3 release with 9753dfe19a85e7e45a34a56f4cb2048bb4f50e27, as Mathias said.
