Container and Kubernetes adoption brings the promise of faster application development and delivery at larger scales – however, it also brings with it new security challenges. Protecting cloud-native applications can require significant changes in how organizations approach IT security. They need to apply controls earlier in the application development lifecycle, use existing infrastructure to apply and enforce these controls, keep up with increasingly rapid release schedules, and more. Not just that, but it often needs to be done quickly, placing increased pressure on IT teams that are often already resource-strapped.

To help meet this need, Red Hat is bringing together Kubernetes-native security capabilities with the convenience and support of a fully Red Hat-managed offering. With the service preview of Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security Cloud Service, organizations can take a security-forward approach as they build, deploy and maintain cloud-native applications, regardless of the underlying Kubernetes platform.

According to the

IBM Transformation Index: State of Cloud, 71% of organizations are demanding new positions to fulfill the need for cloud skills, and 69% of respondents say their teams lack the skills to be proficient in managing cloud applications. This shortage of skills can often make it difficult for organizations to commit the time and resources required to deploy and manage cloud-native security across their environments. As a fully hosted and managed cloud service, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security Cloud Service helps shift the operational and management responsibility as well as infrastructure support to Red Hat, enabling customers to get started on enhancing the security features of their workloads within minutes and focusing on delivering value faster without the additional overhead or complexities.

Kubernetes-native security features from the datacenter to the edge

At Red Hat, we are committed to enabling customers with state-of-the-art software security applications and capabilities, as well as the accompanying expertise. From acquiring StackRox in 2021, and open sourcing the underlying StackRox platform, to playing a crucial role in conceiving and prototyping Sigstore – an open source project for software supply chain security – Red Hat is working to help organizations take a security-focused approach to transforming their business using cloud-native technologies…

Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security Cloud Service is the latest innovation to our IT security portfolio, supporting Red Hat customers running containerized workloads on Red Hat OpenShift, Azure Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS. Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security Cloud Service is also available for non-Red Hat Kubernetes services across major cloud providers including Amazon EKS, Google GKE and Microsoft AKS. The cloud service makes it easier for organizations to more consistently extend the benefits and insights of cloud-native security capabilities across nearly all of their cluster environments, wherever they exist across the hybrid cloud.

Additionally, with the cloud service architecture, organizations can scale security capabilities across multiple environments without having to manage the connectivity, networking, integration and other complexities associated with scaling clusters. This helps to reduce the learning curve for implementing Kubernetes-native security features without sacrificing necessary capabilities or enforcement. Additionally, organizations can provision Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security Cloud Service within minutes, immediately bringing insights into critical vulnerabilities and threat vectors.

IT security and protecting cloud-native workloads is no longer a concern isolated to a specific security team or an IT organization. It’s now an enterprise-wide, business-level challenge, which means every level of an organization should be involved. Now, with Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security Cloud Service, organizations can deliver powerful, cloud-native security capabilities to a broader set of users while making it easier for security teams to enhance their security posture across the hybrid cloud.

Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security Cloud Service is expected to be available in early December via a service preview. Red Hat is looking for customer feedback regarding the feature set, operational automations, architecture, and benefits of the service during this time. Red Hat customers can participate during this service preview and gain access to
