CVE-2023-3745: https://github.com/ImageMagick/ImageMagick/issues/1857 · ImageMagick/ImageMagick6@b466a96

A heap-based buffer overflow issue was found in ImageMagick's PushCharPixel() function in quantum-private.h. This issue may allow a local attacker to trick the user into opening a specially crafted file, triggering an out-of-bounds read error and allowing an application to crash, resulting in a denial of service.

Red Hat’s CWE journey

As the IT security landscape continues to evolve, so do the practices that IT organizations use to mitigate threats and maintain a more secure operating environment. Staying ahead of attackers and minimizing the cost of defense requires constant and appropriate reflection and analysis to improve processes and strategies. In this series, we explain what a CWE is, share our background on CWE collection, and explain how Red Hat has evolved our usage of CWEs over the past few years. What is a CWE? Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE) is a community-developed taxonomy of weaknesses maintained by

CVE-2022-46290: TALOS-2022-1665 || Cisco Talos Intelligence Group

Multiple out-of-bounds write vulnerabilities exist in the ORCA format nAtoms functionality of Open Babel 3.1.1 and master commit 530dbfa3. A specially-crafted malformed file can lead to arbitrary code execution. An attacker can provide a malicious file to trigger this vulnerability.The loop that stores the coordinates does not check its index against nAtoms

CVE-2022-41793: TALOS-2022-1667 || Cisco Talos Intelligence Group

An out-of-bounds write vulnerability exists in the CSR format title functionality of Open Babel 3.1.1 and master commit 530dbfa3. A specially crafted malformed file can lead to arbitrary code execution. An attacker can provide a malicious file to trigger this vulnerability.

RaidenFTPD 2.4.4005 Buffer Overflow

RaidenFTPD version 2.4.4005 suffers from a buffer overflow vulnerability.

OpenSSH Forwarded SSH-Agent Remote Code Execution

The PKCS#11 feature in ssh-agent in OpenSSH versions prior to 9.3p2 has an insufficiently trustworthy search path, leading to remote code execution if an agent is forwarded to an attacker-controlled system.

Satellites Are Rife With Basic Security Flaws

German researchers gained rare access to three satellites and found that they're years behind normal cybersecurity standards.

CVE-2022-28733: oss-security - [SECURITY PATCH 00/30] Multiple GRUB2 vulnerabilities

Integer underflow in grub_net_recv_ip4_packets; A malicious crafted IP packet can lead to an integer underflow in grub_net_recv_ip4_packets() function on rsm->total_len value. Under certain circumstances the total_len value may end up wrapping around to a small integer number which will be used in memory allocation. If the attack succeeds in such way, subsequent operations can write past the end of the buffer.
