Protecting against risk is a shared responsibility that only gets more complex as you mix the different approaches of common cloud services.
There exists an arbitrary memory read within the Linux Kernel BPF - Constants provided to fill pointers in structs passed in to bpf_sys_bpf are not verified and can point anywhere, including memory not owned by BPF. An attacker with CAP_BPF can arbitrarily read memory from anywhere on the system. We recommend upgrading past commit 86f44fcec22c

By Jon Munshaw. Welcome to this week’s edition of the Threat Source newsletter. We’ve seen attackers capitalize on the news time and again, from COVID-19 to U.S.-North Korea relationships and, of course, holiday shopping sales every November. So, I was far from surprised to see that attackers are already using U.S. President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan as a basis for scams and phishing emails. The Better Business Bureau and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission both released warnings over the past few weeks around fake offers, scams and website links related to the debt forgiveness plan, with which some borrowers will have up to $20,000 worth of loans forgiven. A parsing vulnerability for the MessageSet type in the ProtocolBuffers versions prior to and including 3.16.1, 3.17.3, 3.18.2, 3.19.4, 3.20.1 and 3.21.5 for protobuf-cpp, and versions prior to and including 3.16.1, 3.17.3, 3.18.2, 3.19.4, 3.20.1 and 4.21.5 for protobuf-python can lead to out of memory failures. A specially crafted message with multiple key-value per elements creates parsing issues, and can lead to a Denial of Service against services receiving unsanitized input. We recommend upgrading to versions 3.18.3, 3.19.5, 3.20.2, 3.21.6 for protobuf-cpp and 3.18.3, 3.19.5, 3.20.2, 4.21.6 for protobuf-python. Versions for 3.16 and 3.17 are no longer updated.
