Maltrail 0.53 Unauthenticated Command Injection

Maltrail is a malicious traffic detection system, utilizing publicly available blacklists containing malicious and/or generally suspicious trails. Maltrail versions below 0.54 suffer from a command injection vulnerability. The subprocess.check_output function in mailtrail/core/http.py contains a command injection vulnerability in the params.get("username") parameter. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by injecting arbitrary OS commands into the username parameter. The injected commands will be executed with the privileges of the running process. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely without authentication. Successfully tested against Maltrail versions 0.52 and 0.53.

Debian Security Advisory 5478-1

Debian Linux Security Advisory 5478-1 - Several vulnerabilities have been discovered in the OpenJDK Java runtime, which may result in bypass of sandbox restrictions, information disclosure, reduced cryptographic strength of the AES implementation, directory traversal or denial of service.

New LABRAT Campaign Exploits GitLab Flaw for Cryptojacking and Proxyjacking Activities

A new, financially motivated operation dubbed LABRAT has been observed weaponizing a now-patched critical flaw in GitLab as part of a cryptojacking and proxyjacking campaign. "The attacker utilized undetected signature-based tools, sophisticated and stealthy cross-platform malware, command-and-control (C2) tools which bypassed firewalls, and kernel-based rootkits to hide their presence," Sysdig

CVE-2023-4394: fs: btrfs: fix possible memory leaks in btrfs_get_dev_args_from_path()

A use-after-free flaw was found in btrfs_get_dev_args_from_path in fs/btrfs/volumes.c in btrfs file-system in the Linux Kernel. This flaw allows a local attacker with special privileges to cause a system crash or leak internal kernel information

Better securing the frontlines: Leveraging Ansible Automation Platform and AIDE for DoD file integrity

A lot of system administrators within the Department of Defense already use the Advanced Intrusion Detection Environment (AIDE). This is mainly because of a Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) that states that a file integrity checker must be configured to verify extended file attributes. There are a lot of features to AIDE, and the combination of using AIDE with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform gives you the ability to automate important corrections to your system configuration. Telling AIDE what to check AIDE can be configured to check multiple file and folder attributes.

CVE-2023-35893: IBM Security Guardium is affected by a Command injection in CLI vulnerability [CVE-2023-35893]

IBM Security Guardium 10.6, 11.3, 11.4, and 11.5 could allow a remote authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the system by sending a specially crafted request. IBM X-Force ID: 258824.

CVE-2023-20197: Cisco Security Advisory: ClamAV HFS+ File Scanning Infinite Loop Denial of Service Vulnerability

A vulnerability in the filesystem image parser for Hierarchical File System Plus (HFS+) of ClamAV could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on an affected device. This vulnerability is due to an incorrect check for completion when a file is decompressed, which may result in a loop condition that could cause the affected software to stop responding. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by submitting a crafted HFS+ filesystem image to be scanned by ClamAV on an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause the ClamAV scanning process to stop responding, resulting in a DoS condition on the affected software and consuming available system resources. For a description of this vulnerability, see the ClamAV blog .

CVE-2023-20224: Cisco Security Advisory: Cisco ThousandEyes Enterprise Agent Virtual Appliance Privilege Escalation Vulnerability

A vulnerability in the CLI of Cisco ThousandEyes Enterprise Agent, Virtual Appliance installation type, could allow an authenticated, local attacker to elevate privileges to root on an affected device. This vulnerability is due to insufficient input validation of user-supplied CLI arguments. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by authenticating to an affected device and using crafted commands at the prompt. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary commands as root. The attacker must have valid credentials on the affected device.
