Warning: VMware vCenter and Kemp LoadMaster Flaws Under Active Exploitation

Now-patched security flaws impacting Progress Kemp LoadMaster and VMware vCenter Server have come under active exploitation in the wild, it has emerged. The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) on Monday added CVE-2024-1212 (CVSS score: 10.0), a maximum-severity security vulnerability in Progress Kemp LoadMaster to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog. It was

GHSA-8495-4g3g-x7pr: aiohttp allows request smuggling due to incorrect parsing of chunk extensions

### Summary The Python parser parses newlines in chunk extensions incorrectly which can lead to request smuggling vulnerabilities under certain conditions. ### Impact If a pure Python version of aiohttp is installed (i.e. without the usual C extensions) or `AIOHTTP_NO_EXTENSIONS` is enabled, then an attacker may be able to execute a request smuggling attack to bypass certain firewalls or proxy protections. ----- Patch: https://github.com/aio-libs/aiohttp/commit/259edc369075de63e6f3a4eaade058c62af0df71

Critical WordPress Plug-in Flaw Exposes 4M Sites to Takeover

A vulnerability found in the Really Simple Security plug-in allows an attacker to remotely gain access to any account on an affected website, including the administrator, when 2FA is enabled.

GHSA-jp37-5qhw-mffw: Sharks has a Bias of Polynomial Coefficients in Secret Sharing

Affected versions of this crate allowed for a bias when generating random polynomials for Shamir Secret Sharing, where instead of being within the range `[0, 255]` they were instead in the range `[1, 255]`. A description from Cure53, who originally found the issue, is available: > The correct method to select a random polynomial would be to select all coefficients (including the most significant coefficient) uniformly in the range 0..255 (inclusive). Otherwise, knowledge that a coefficient in a polynomial cannot be 0 permits the exclusion of single byte values for the shared secret given one share less than required. [...] Exploiting this weakness necessitates sharing the same secret multiple times. In this scenario, an attacker could exclude an exponential number of values for each of the shared bytes until sufficiently few values remain for brute forcing. Cure53 estimates that under ideal circumstances (e.g., a 2-out-of-N scheme) a shared secret can be reconstructed if the same sec...

GHSA-7cc9-j4mv-vcjp: XXE in PHPSpreadsheet's XLSX reader

### Summary The [XmlScanner class](https://github.com/PHPOffice/PhpSpreadsheet/blob/39fc51309181e82593b06e2fa8e45ef8333a0335/src/PhpSpreadsheet/Reader/Security/XmlScanner.php) has a [scan](https://github.com/PHPOffice/PhpSpreadsheet/blob/39fc51309181e82593b06e2fa8e45ef8333a0335/src/PhpSpreadsheet/Reader/Security/XmlScanner.php#L72) method which should prevent XXE attacks. However, we found another bypass than the previously reported `CVE-2024-47873`, the regexes from the [findCharSet](https://github.com/PHPOffice/PhpSpreadsheet/blob/39fc51309181e82593b06e2fa8e45ef8333a0335/src/PhpSpreadsheet/Reader/Security/XmlScanner.php#L51) method, which is used for determining the current encoding can be bypassed by using a payload in the encoding UTF-7, and adding at end of the file a comment with the value `encoding="UTF-8"` with `"`, which is matched by the first regex, so that `encoding='UTF-7'` with single quotes `'` in the XML header is not matched by the second regex: ``` $patterns = [ ...

GHSA-jw4x-v69f-hh5w: XmlScanner bypass leads to XXE

### Summary The [XmlScanner class](https://github.com/PHPOffice/PhpSpreadsheet/blob/39fc51309181e82593b06e2fa8e45ef8333a0335/src/PhpSpreadsheet/Reader/Security/XmlScanner.php) has a [scan](https://github.com/PHPOffice/PhpSpreadsheet/blob/39fc51309181e82593b06e2fa8e45ef8333a0335/src/PhpSpreadsheet/Reader/Security/XmlScanner.php#L72) method which should prevent XXE attacks. However, the regexes used in the `scan` method and the [findCharSet](https://github.com/PHPOffice/PhpSpreadsheet/blob/39fc51309181e82593b06e2fa8e45ef8333a0335/src/PhpSpreadsheet/Reader/Security/XmlScanner.php#L51) method can be bypassed by using UCS-4 and encoding guessing as described in <https://www.w3.org/TR/xml/#sec-guessing-no-ext-info>. ### Details The `scan` method converts the input in the UTF-8 encoding if it is not already in the UTF-8 encoding with the [`toUtf8` method](https://github.com/PHPOffice/PhpSpreadsheet/blob/39fc51309181e82593b06e2fa8e45ef8333a0335/src/PhpSpreadsheet/Reader/Security/XmlScanner....

GHSA-f632-9449-3j4w: Apache Tomcat - XSS in generated JSPs

# Description: The fix for improvement 69333 caused pooled JSP tags not to be released after use which in turn could cause output of some tags not to escaped as expected. This unescaped output could lead to XSS. # Versions Affected: - Apache Tomcat 11.0.0 - Apache Tomcat 10.1.31 - Apache Tomcat 9.0.96 # Mitigation: Users of the affected versions should apply one of the following mitigations: - Upgrade to Apache Tomcat 11.0.1 or later - Upgrade to Apache Tomcat 10.1.33 or later Note: 10.1.32 was not released - Upgrade to Apache Tomcat 9.0.97 or later
