CodeIgniter4 is the 4.x branch of CodeIgniter, a PHP full-stack web framework. A vulnerability in versions prior to 4.1.9 might allow remote attackers to bypass the CodeIgniter4 Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) protection mechanism. Users should upgrade to version 4.1.9. There are workarounds for this vulnerability, but users will still need to code as these after upgrading to v4.1.9. Otherwise, the CSRF protection may be bypassed. If auto-routing is enabled, check the request method in the controller method before processing. If auto-routing is disabled, either avoid using `$routes->add()` and instead use HTTP verbs in routes; or check the request method in the controller method before processing.
How to get started with automated policy as code: Start small but think BIG.A policy enforcement feature is coming to future versions of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform. This blog provides more detail around where we’re heading with this exciting initiative. What is automated policy as code?Quite simply it allows you to apply policies, or in other words rules, before and/or during automation without having to know about or write those rules into your automation. You have many operational constructs you want to adhere to across your organization, and by automating them as policies, you can
At Microsoft, we invest a lot of time researching and investigating possibilities in our journey to memory safety. Because the massive majority of existing codebases are written in unsafe programming languages, the task of protecting legacy code is very important. Hardware solutions are an attractive approach because they introduce very powerful security properties with low overheads compared to purely software solutions.
A flaw was found in darkhttpd. Invalid error handling allows remote attackers to cause denial-of-service by accessing a file with a large modification date. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability.
The staffers were tasked with building relationships on the ground across the country in local election jurisdictions, teaching election officials tactics on mitigating cyber threats, cyber hygiene, combating misinformation and foreign influence, and more.
The scm_check_creds function in net/core/scm.c in the Linux kernel before 3.11 performs a capability check in an incorrect namespace, which allows local users to gain privileges via PID spoofing.
By Jon Munshaw. Welcome to this week’s edition of the Threat Source newsletter. After what seems like forever and honestly has been a really long time, we’re heading back to BlackHat in-person this year. We’re excited to see a lot of old friends again to commiserate, hang out, trade stories and generally talk about security. Throughout the two days of the main conference, we’ll have a full suite of flash talks at the Cisco Secure booth and several sponsored talks. Since this is the last edition of the newsletter before BlackHat starts, it’s probably worthwhile running through all the cool stuff we’ll have going on at Hacker Summer Camp. Our booth should be easy enough to find — it’s right by the main entrance to Bayside B. If you get to the Trellix Lounge, you’ve gone too far north. Our researchers will be there to answer any questions you have and present on a wide variety of security topics, from research into Adobe vulnerabilities to the privacy effects of the overtur...
In LibRaw, an out-of-bounds read vulnerability exists within the "simple_decode_row()" function (libraw\src\x3f\x3f_utils_patched.cpp) which can be triggered via an image with a large row_stride field.
In Shadow 4.13, it is possible to inject control characters into fields provided to the SUID program chfn (change finger). Although it is not possible to exploit this directly (e.g., adding a new user fails because \n is in the block list), it is possible to misrepresent the /etc/passwd file when viewed. Use of \r manipulations and Unicode characters to work around blocking of the : character make it possible to give the impression that a new user has been added. In other words, an adversary may be able to convince a system administrator to take the system offline (an indirect, social-engineered denial of service) by demonstrating that "cat /etc/passwd" shows a rogue user account.
A possible out-of-bounds read and write (due to an improper length check of shared memory) was discovered in Arm NN Android-NN-Driver before 23.02.
