CVE-2021-1106: Security Bulletin: NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier Series, Jetson Xavier NX, Jetson TX1, Jetson TX2 Series (including Jetson TX2 NX), and Jetson Nano (including Jetson Nano 2GB)- August 2021

NVIDIA Linux kernel distributions contain a vulnerability in nvmap, where writes may be allowed to read-only buffers, which may result in escalation of privileges, complete denial of service, unconstrained information disclosure, and serious data tampering of all processes on the system.

CVE-2023-32975: Multiple Vulnerabilities in QTS and QuTS hero - Security Advisory

A buffer copy without checking size of input vulnerability has been reported to affect several QNAP operating system versions. If exploited, the vulnerability could allow authenticated administrators to execute code via a network. We have already fixed the vulnerability in the following versions: QTS 5.0.1.2514 build 20230906 and later QTS 5.1.2.2533 build 20230926 and later QuTS hero h5.0.1.2515 build 20230907 and later QuTS hero h5.1.2.2534 build 20230927 and later

CVE-2022-29175: Build software better, together

Vyper is a pythonic smart contract language for the ethereum virtual machine. Since version 0.3.2, decimals use the full range of the underlying int168 type. multiplication of 168 bit integers can wrap in 256-bit arithmetic, but safemul does not check for that. This has been patched in v0.3.4. There are no known workarounds for this issue.

CVE-2021-38977: Missing cookie secure attribute in IBM Security Guardium Key Lifecycle Manager (CVE-2021-38977)

IBM Tivoli Key Lifecycle Manager 3.0, 3.0.1, 4.0, and 4.1 does not set the secure attribute on authorization tokens or session cookies. Attackers may be able to get the cookie values by sending a http:// link to a user or by planting this link in a site the user goes to. The cookie will be sent to the insecure link and the attacker can then obtain the cookie value by snooping the traffic. IBM X-Force ID: 212782.

CVE-2022-32593: October 2022

In vowe, there is a possible out of bounds write due to a missing bounds check. This could lead to local escalation of privilege with System execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation. Patch ID: ALPS07138493; Issue ID: ALPS07138493.

CVE-2021-1441: Cisco Security Advisory: Cisco IOS XE Software Hardware Initialization Routines Arbitrary Code Execution Vulnerability

A vulnerability in the hardware initialization routines of Cisco IOS XE Software for Cisco 1100 Series Industrial Integrated Services Routers and Cisco ESR6300 Embedded Series Routers could allow an authenticated, local attacker to execute unsigned code at system boot time. This vulnerability is due to incorrect validations of parameters passed to a diagnostic script that is executed when the device boots up. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by tampering with an executable file stored on a device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute unsigned code at boot time and bypass the software image verification check part of the secure boot process of an affected device. To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker would need administrative level credentials (level 15) on the device.

CVE-2021-41239: User enumeration setting not obeyed in User Status API

Nextcloud server is a self hosted system designed to provide cloud style services. In affected versions the User Status API did not consider the user enumeration settings by the administrator. This allowed a user to enumerate other users on the instance, even when user listings where disabled. It is recommended that the Nextcloud Server is upgraded to 20.0.14, 21.0.6 or 22.2.1. There are no known workarounds.

What the ECDSA Flaw in Java Means for Enterprises

This Tech Tip reminds developers and security teams to check what version of Java they are running. Whether they are vulnerable to the ECDSA flaw boils down to the version number.

Ubuntu Security Notice USN-6343-1

Ubuntu Security Notice 6343-1 - It was discovered that the IPv6 implementation in the Linux kernel contained a high rate of hash collisions in connection lookup table. A remote attacker could use this to cause a denial of service. Ross Lagerwall discovered that the Xen netback backend driver in the Linux kernel did not properly handle certain unusual packets from a paravirtualized network frontend, leading to a buffer overflow. An attacker in a guest VM could use this to cause a denial of service or possibly execute arbitrary code.

Ubuntu Security Notice USN-6416-3

Ubuntu Security Notice 6416-3 - It was discovered that the IPv6 implementation in the Linux kernel contained a high rate of hash collisions in connection lookup table. A remote attacker could use this to cause a denial of service. Daniel Trujillo, Johannes Wikner, and Kaveh Razavi discovered that some AMD processors utilising speculative execution and branch prediction may allow unauthorised memory reads via a speculative side-channel attack. A local attacker could use this to expose sensitive information, including kernel memory.
