GHSA-p2q9-36vw-c468: olm-sys: wrapped library unmaintained, potentially vulnerable

After several cryptographic vulnerabilities in `libolm` were disclosed publicly, the Matrix Foundation has [officially deprecated the library](https://matrix.org/blog/2024/08/libolm-deprecation/). `olm-sys` is a thin wrapper around `libolm` and is now deprecated and potentially vulnerable in kind. Users of `olm-sys` and its higher-level abstraction, `olm-rs`, are highly encouraged to switch to [`vodozemac`](https://crates.io/crates/vodozemac) as soon as possible. It is the successor effort to `libolm` and is written in Rust.

GHSA-6xx4-x46f-f897: Hoverfly allows an arbitrary file read in the `/api/v2/simulation` endpoint (`GHSL-2023-274`)

### Details The `/api/v2/simulation` [POST handler](https://github.com/spectolabs/hoverfly/blob/15d6ee9ea4e0de67aec5a41c28d21dc147243da0/core/handlers/v2/simulation_handler.go#L87) allows users to create new simulation views from the contents of a user-specified file. ### Impact Versions of `actions/download-artifact` before 4.1.7 are vulnerable to arbitrary file write when downloading and extracting a specifically crafted artifact that contains path traversal filenames. ### Patches Upgrade to version 4.1.7 or higher. GHSA-vr26-jcq5-fjj8: Denial of service in quinn-proto when using `Endpoint::retry()`

### Summary As of quinn-proto 0.11, it is possible for a server to `accept()`, `retry()`, `refuse()`, or `ignore()` an `Incoming` connection. However, calling `retry()` on an unvalidated connection exposes the server to a likely panic in the following situations: - Calling `refuse` or `ignore` on the resulting validated connection, if a duplicate initial packet is received - This issue can go undetected until a server's `refuse()`/`ignore()` code path is exercised, such as to stop a denial of service attack. - Accepting when the initial packet for the resulting validated connection fails to decrypt or exhausts connection IDs, if a similar initial packet that successfully decrypts and doesn't exhaust connection IDs is received. - This issue can go undetected if clients are well-behaved. GHSA-v26r-4c9c-h3j6: gix-path uses local config across repos when it is the highest scope

### Summary `gix-path` executes `git` to find the path of a configuration file that belongs to the `git` installation itself, but mistakenly treats the local repository's configuration as system-wide if no higher scoped configuration is found. GHSA-pqfh-xh7w-7h3p: The Bare Metal Operator (BMO) can expose particularly named secrets from other namespaces via BMH CRD

### Impact The Bare Metal Operator (BMO) implements a Kubernetes API for managing bare metal hosts in Metal3. The `BareMetalHost` (BMH) CRD allows the `userData`, `metaData`, and `networkData` for the provisioned host to be specified as links to Kubernetes Secrets. There are fields for both the `Name` and `Namespace` of the Secret, meaning that the baremetal-operator will read a `Secret` from any namespace. A user with access to create or edit a `BareMetalHost` can thus exfiltrate a `Secret` from another namespace by using it as e.g. the `userData` for provisioning some host (note that this need not be a real host, it could be a VM somewhere). ### Limiting factors BMO will only read a key with the name `value` (or `userData`, `metaData`, or `networkData`), so that limits the exposure somewhat. `value` is probably a pretty common key though. GHSA-jfvp-7x6p-h2pv: runc can be confused to create empty files/directories on the host

### Impact runc 1.1.13 and earlier as well as 1.2.0-rc2 and earlier can be tricked into creating empty files or directories in arbitrary locations in the host filesystem by sharing a volume between two containers and exploiting a race with os.MkdirAll. While this can be used to create empty files, existing files **will not** be truncated. An attacker must have the ability to start containers using some kind of custom volume configuration. Containers using user namespaces are still affected, but the scope of places an attacker can create inodes can be significantly reduced. Sufficiently strict LSM policies (SELinux/Apparmor) can also in principle block this attack -- we suspect the industry standard SELinux policy may restrict this attack's scope but the exact scope of protection hasn't been analysed.
