node-minimatch vulnerability

A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

  • Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
  • Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

Summary:

minimatch could be made to crash if it opened a specially crafted input
file.

Software Description:

  • node-minimatch: A glob matcher in javascript

Details:

It was discovered that minimatch incorrectly handled certain inputs. If a
user or an automated system were tricked into opening a specially crafted
input file, a remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause a
denial of service.

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS:
node-minimatch 3.0.4-4ubuntu0.1

Ubuntu 18.04 LTS:
node-minimatch 3.0.4-3+deb10u1build0.18.04.1

In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.
