Cisco Talos discovered a new attack framework including a command and control (C2) tool called "Alchimist" and a new malware "Insekt" with remote administration capabilities.

This marks the third identity and access management (IAM) company acquired by Thoma Bravo in just the past few months.

Blog by Jon Munshaw.  Cisco Talos recently discovered nine vulnerabilities in the Robustel R1510 industrial cellular router, several of which could allow an adversary to inject operating system code remotely.  The Robustel R1510 router is a dual-ethernet port wireless router that shares 3G and 4G wireless signals for use in industrial and internet-of-things environments. The router includes the use of open VPN tunneling, a cloud management platform to manage other devices and routers and different safeguards to manage data caps. Talos discovered five operating system command injection vulnerabilities in the router that an adversary could trigger by sending the targeted device a specially crafted network request. Microsoft's Patch Tuesday update for the month of October has addressed a total of 85 security vulnerabilities, including fixes for an actively exploited zero-day flaw in the wild. Of the 85 bugs, 15 are rated Critical, 69 are rated Important, and one is rated Moderate in severity. Microsoft released its monthly security update Tuesday, disclosing 83 vulnerabilities across the company’s hardware and software line, including seven critical issues in Windows’ point-to-point tunneling protocol.  October's security update features 11 critical vulnerabilities, with the remainder being “important.”   One of the most notable vulnerabilities Microsoft fixed this month is CVE-2022-41038, a remote code execution issue in Microsoft SharePoint.
