Acrobat out-of-bounds and Foxit use-after-free PDF reader vulnerabilities found

Cisco Talos’ Vulnerability Research team recently disclosed three out-of-bounds read vulnerabilities in Adobe Acrobat Reader, and two use-after-free vulnerabilities in Foxit Reader.   These vulnerabilities exist in Adobe Acrobat Reader and Foxit Reader, two of the most popular and feature-rich PDF readers on the market.  The vulnerabilities

GHSA-6v67-2wr5-gvf4: QOS.CH logback-core Server-Side Request Forgery vulnerability

Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) in SaxEventRecorder by QOS.CH logback version 1.5.12 on the Java platform, allows an attacker to forge requests by compromising logback configuration files in XML. The attacks involves the modification of DOCTYPE declaration in  XML configuration files.

GHSA-pr98-23f8-jwxv: QOS.CH logback-core Expression Language Injection vulnerability

ACE vulnerability in JaninoEventEvaluator by QOS.CH logback-core up to and including version 1.5.12 in Java applications allows attackers to execute arbitrary code by compromising an existing logback configuration file or by injecting an environment variable before program execution. Malicious logback configuration files can allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code using the JaninoEventEvaluator extension. A successful attack requires the user to have write access to a configuration file. Alternatively, the attacker could inject a malicious environment variable pointing to a malicious configuration file. In both cases, the attack requires existing privilege.

Orgs Scramble to Fix Actively Exploited Bug in Apache Struts 2

A newly discovered vulnerability, CVE-2024-53677, in the aging Apache framework is going to cause major headaches for IT teams, since patching isn't enough to fix it.

GHSA-49w6-73cw-chjr: Astro's server source code is exposed to the public if sourcemaps are enabled

### Summary A bug in the build process allows any unauthenticated user to read parts of the server source code. ### Details During build, along with client assets such as css and font files, the sourcemap files **for the server code** are moved to a publicly-accessible folder. https://github.com/withastro/astro/blob/176fe9f113fd912f9b61e848b00bbcfecd6d5c2c/packages/astro/src/core/build/static-build.ts#L139 Any outside party can read them with an unauthorized HTTP GET request to the same server hosting the rest of the website. While some server files are hashed, making their access obscure, the files corresponding to the file system router (those in `src/pages`) are predictably named. For example. the sourcemap file for `src/pages/index.astro` gets named `dist/client/pages/index.astro.mjs.map`. ### PoC Here is one example of an affected open-source website: https://creatorsgarten.org/pages/index.astro.mjs.map <image width="500" height="263" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/...

GHSA-m56h-5xx3-2jc2: Prototype pollution in jsii.configureCategories

## Summary `jsii` is a TypeScript to JavaScript compiler that also extracts an interface definition manifest to generate RPC stubs in various programming languages. jsii is typically used as a command-line tool, but it can also be loaded as a library. When loaded as a library into a larger application, prototype pollution may happen if untrusted user input is passed to the library. When used as a command line-tool, this pollution cannot occur. ## Impact You may be impacted if you have written an application that loads jsii as a library, and passes untrusted user input into the `jsii.configureCategories()` function. In that case, a user can craft input in such a way that, following the invocation, a field named "category" with a user-controlled value is added to the JavaScript Object prototype. This will cause every object in the program (both new and existing) to have a field named "category", even if it shouldn't. **This will not affect jsii itself, but it might affect the applic...

GHSA-px38-239g-x5mg: Liferay Portal and Liferay DXP have Cross-site Scripting vulnerability in edit Service Access Policy page

Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the edit Service Access Policy page in Liferay Portal 7.0.0 through 7.4.3.87, and Liferay DXP 7.4 GA through update 87, 7.3 GA through update 29, and older unsupported versions allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a crafted payload injected into a service access policy's `Service Class` text field.

GHSA-6pfc-w86r-54q6: Welcome and About GeoServer pages communicate version and revision information

### Impact The welcome and about page includes version and revision information about the software in use (including library and components used). This information is sensitive from a security point of view because it allows software used by the server to be easily identified. ### Proof of Concept 1. Welcome page footer: <img width="432" alt="image" src="https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/assets/629681/a7fd5151-55d5-432b-9d5d-79136833609f"> 2. ABB Cylon Aspect 3.08.02 (editOverride.php) Authentication Bypass MIX Override

The ABB Cylon Aspect BMS/BAS controller allows users to bypass authentication by setting the 'content' POST parameter. This enables an attacker to inject arbitrary configuration overrides, potentially leading to unauthorized changes and compromising system integrity. The vulnerability can be exploited to update the /usr/local/aam/etc/override.properties file. This file contains critical configuration overrides such as enabling overrides (Override.enabled=true) and setting specific properties like debug.level=1. The runjava.VARIANT* script then sources this file during execution, applying the overrides when the system reboots or the application restarts. This allows attackers to manipulate critical system settings, potentially causing performance degradation, introducing security risks, or resulting in a denial of service scenario.
