The TLS Extended Master Secret and FIPS in Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Almost 10 years ago, researchers identified and presented the "triple handshake" man-in-the-middle attack in TLS 1.2. The vulnerability breaks confidentiality of the connection and allows an attacker to impersonate a client. In response, RFC 7627 introduced the Extended Master Secret Extension for TLS 1.2 in September 2015, which prevents the attack. All major TLS libraries now support the Extended Master Secret (EMS) and enable it by default. Unfortunately, many older operating systems and embedded devices such as WiFi access points and home routers do not support it. For example, Red Hat

CVE-2018-25091: Comparing 1.24.1...1.24.2 · urllib3/urllib3

urllib3 before 1.24.2 does not remove the authorization HTTP header when following a cross-origin redirect (i.e., a redirect that differs in host, port, or scheme). This can allow for credentials in the authorization header to be exposed to unintended hosts or transmitted in cleartext. NOTE: this issue exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2018-20060 (which was case-sensitive).

PyTorch Model Server Registration / Deserialization Remote Code Execution

The PyTorch model server contains multiple vulnerabilities that can be chained together to permit an unauthenticated remote attacker arbitrary Java code execution. The first vulnerability is that the management interface is bound to all IP addresses and not just the loop back interface as the documentation suggests. The second vulnerability (CVE-2023-43654) allows attackers with access to the management interface to register MAR model files from arbitrary servers. The third vulnerability is that when an MAR file is loaded, it can contain a YAML configuration file that when deserialized by snakeyaml, can lead to loading an arbitrary Java class.

CVE-2023-36843

An Improper Handling of Inconsistent Special Elements vulnerability in the Junos Services Framework (jsf) module of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an unauthenticated network based attacker to cause a crash in the Packet Forwarding Engine (pfe) and thereby resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). Upon receiving malformed SSL traffic, the PFE crashes. A manual restart will be needed to recover the device. This issue only affects devices with Juniper Networks Advanced Threat Prevention (ATP) Cloud enabled with Encrypted Traffic Insights (configured via ‘security-metadata-streaming policy’). This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS: * All versions prior to 20.4R3-S8, 20.4R3-S9; * 21.1 version 21.1R1 and later versions; * 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S6; * 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S5; * 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S5; * 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S4; * 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3-S2; * 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R2-S2, 22.3R3; * 22.4 versi...

CVE-2023-25774: TALOS-2023-1743 || Cisco Talos Intelligence Group

A denial-of-service vulnerability exists in the vpnserver ConnectionAccept() functionality of SoftEther VPN 5.02. A set of specially crafted network connections can lead to denial of service. An attacker can send a sequence of malicious packets to trigger this vulnerability.

CVE-2023-31192: 2023/06/30: SE202301: Security Advisory: CVE-2023-27395 etc: Fixed 6 vulnerabilities of SoftEther VPN in cooperation with Cisco Systems, Inc.

An information disclosure vulnerability exists in the ClientConnect() functionality of SoftEther VPN 5.01.9674. A specially crafted network packet can lead to a disclosure of sensitive information. An attacker can perform a man-in-the-middle attack to trigger this vulnerability.

Ubuntu Security Notice USN-6429-2

Ubuntu Security Notice 6429-2 - USN-6429-1 fixed a vulnerability in curl. This update provides the corresponding update for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. It was discovered that curl incorrectly handled cookies when an application duplicated certain handles. A local attacker could possibly create a cookie file and inject arbitrary cookies into subsequent connections.
