GHSA-449p-3h89-pw88: Maliciously crafted Git server replies can lead to path traversal and RCE on go-git clients

### Impact A path traversal vulnerability was discovered in go-git versions prior to `v5.11`. This vulnerability allows an attacker to create and amend files across the filesystem. In the worse case scenario, remote code execution could be achieved. Applications are only affected if they are using the [ChrootOS](https://pkg.go.dev/github.com/go-git/go-billy/v5/osfs#ChrootOS), which is the default when using "Plain" versions of Open and Clone funcs (e.g. PlainClone). Applications using [BoundOS](https://pkg.go.dev/github.com/go-git/go-billy/v5/osfs#BoundOS) or in-memory filesystems are not affected by this issue. This is a `go-git` implementation issue and does not affect the upstream `git` cli. ### Patches Users running versions of `go-git` from `v4` and above are recommended to upgrade to `v5.11` in order to mitigate this vulnerability. ### Workarounds In cases where a bump to the latest version of `go-git` is not possible in a timely manner, we recommend limiting its use to only t...

GHSA-mw99-9chc-xw7r: Maliciously crafted Git server replies can cause DoS on go-git clients

### Impact A denial of service (DoS) vulnerability was discovered in go-git versions prior to `v5.11`. This vulnerability allows an attacker to perform denial of service attacks by providing specially crafted responses from a Git server which triggers resource exhaustion in `go-git` clients. Applications using only the in-memory filesystem supported by `go-git` are not affected by this vulnerability. This is a `go-git` implementation issue and does not affect the upstream `git` cli. ### Patches Users running versions of `go-git` from `v4` and above are recommended to upgrade to `v5.11` in order to mitigate this vulnerability. ### Workarounds In cases where a bump to the latest version of `go-git` is not possible, we recommend limiting its use to only trust-worthy Git servers. ## Credit Thanks to Ionut Lalu for responsibly disclosing this vulnerability to us. ### References - [GHSA-mw99-9chc-xw7r](https://github.com/go-git/go-git/security/advisories/GHSA-mw99-9chc-xw7r)

CVE-2023-47108: DoS vulnerability in otelgrpc (uncontrolled resource consumption) due to unbound cardinality metrics

OpenTelemetry-Go Contrib is a collection of third-party packages for OpenTelemetry-Go. Prior to version 0.46.0, the grpc Unary Server Interceptor out of the box adds labels `net.peer.sock.addr` and `net.peer.sock.port` that have unbound cardinality. It leads to the server's potential memory exhaustion when many malicious requests are sent. An attacker can easily flood the peer address and port for requests. Version 0.46.0 contains a fix for this issue. As a workaround to stop being affected, a view removing the attributes can be used. The other possibility is to disable grpc metrics instrumentation by passing `otelgrpc.WithMeterProvider` option with `noop.NewMeterProvider`.

GHSA-rcjv-mgp8-qvmr: OpenTelemetry-Go Contrib vulnerable to denial of service in otelhttp due to unbound cardinality metrics

### Summary OpenTelemetry-Go Contrib has a [handler wrapper `otelhttp`](https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-go-contrib/blob/5f7e6ad5a49b45df45f61a1deb29d7f1158032df/instrumentation/net/http/otelhttp/handler.go#L63-L65) that adds the following labels by deafult that have unbound cardinality: - `http.user_agent` - `http.method` This leads to the server's potential memory exhaustion when many malicious requests are sent to it. ### Details HTTP header User-Agent or HTTP method for requests can be easily set by an attacker to be random and long. The library internally uses [httpconv.ServerRequest](https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-go/blob/v1.12.0/semconv/internal/v2/http.go#L159) that records every value for HTTP [method](https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-go/blob/38e1b499c3da3107694ad2660b3888eee9c8b896/semconv/internal/v2/http.go#L204) and [User-Agent](https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-go/blob/38e1b499c3da3107694ad2660b3888eee9c8b8...

OpenTelemetry-Go Contrib is a collection of third-party packages for OpenTelemetry-Go. A handler wrapper out of the box adds labels `http.user_agent` and `http.method` that have unbound cardinality. HTTP header User-Agent or HTTP method for requests can be easily set by an attacker to be random and long. The library internally uses `httpconv.ServerRequest` that records every value for HTTP `method` and `User-Agent`. In order to be affected, a program has to use the `otelhttp.NewHandler` wrapper and not filter any unknown HTTP methods or User agents on the level of CDN, LB, previous middleware, etc. Version 0.44.0 fixed this issue when the values collected for attribute `http.request.method` were changed to be restricted to a set of well-known values and other high cardinality attributes were removed. As a workaround to stop being affected, `otelhttp.WithFilter()` can be used, but it requir...
