IntroductionIn a previous article, I demonstrated how to configure the Automatic Certificate Management Environment (ACME) feature included in the Identity Management (IdM) Dogtag Certificate Authority (CA). Specifically, I covered installation of IdM with random serial numbers, and how to enable the ACME service and expired certificate pruning. This article explains the management of ACME (currently a technology preview) with IdM and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) clients.Currently, mod_md is the only ACME client implementation completely supported and provided by Red Hat. For this article,
Applications and libraries which misuse the ServerConfig.PublicKeyCallback callback may be susceptible to an authorization bypass. The documentation for ServerConfig.PublicKeyCallback says that "A call to this function does not guarantee that the key offered is in fact used to authenticate." Specifically, the SSH protocol allows clients to inquire about whether a public key is acceptable before proving control of the corresponding private key. PublicKeyCallback may be called with multiple keys, and the order in which the keys were provided cannot be used to infer which key the client successfully authenticated with, if any. Some applications, which store the key(s) passed to PublicKeyCallback (or derived information) and make security relevant determinations based on it once the connection is established, may make incorrect assumptions. For example, an attacker may send public keys A and B, and then authenticate with A. PublicKeyCallback would be called only twice, first with A and t...

Identity security is all the rage right now, and rightfully so. Securing identities that access an organization’s resources is a sound security model. But IDs have their limits, and there are many use cases when a business should add other layers of security to a strong identity. And this is what we at SSH Communications Security want to talk about today. Let’s look at seven ways to add
The notorious spyware from Israel's NSO Group has been found targeting journalists, government officials, and corporate executives in multiple variants discovered in a threat scan of 3,500 mobile phones.
Over the past year, "Matrix" has used publicly available malware tools and exploit scripts to target weakly secured IoT devices — and enterprise servers.
Two men have been arrested for allegedly stealing data from and extorting dozens of companies that used the cloud data storage company Snowflake, but a third suspect -- a prolific hacker known as Kiberphant0m -- remains at large and continues to publicly extort victims. However, this person's identity may not remain a secret for long: A careful review of Kiberphant0m's daily chats across multiple cybercrime personas suggests they are a U.S. Army soldier who is or was recently stationed in South Korea.
Cyberattackers have been targeting the online NFT marketplace with emails claiming to make an offer to a targeted user; in reality, clicking on a malicious link takes victims to a crypto-draining site.
Aqua Nautilus researchers have discovered a campaign powering a series of large-scale DDoS attacks launched by Matrix, which…
