What to know about the HTTP/2 Rapid Reset DDoS attacks

Cisco Talos is actively tracking the novel distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks cloud services provider Cloudflare disclosed earlier this week. The techniques described in Cloudflare’s blog post resulted in a record-breaking DDoS attack and could facilitate much larger attacks in the future.  CVE-2023-44487 CVE-2023-44487, a vulnerability in the

CVE-2023-44186

An Improper Handling of Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in AS PATH processing of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an attacker to send a BGP update message with an AS PATH containing a large number of 4-byte ASes, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS). Continued receipt and processing of these BGP updates will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue is hit when the router has Non-Stop Routing (NSR) enabled, has a non-4-byte-AS capable BGP neighbor, receives a BGP update message with a prefix that includes a long AS PATH containing large number of 4-byte ASes, and has to advertise the prefix towards the non-4-byte-AS capable BGP neighbor. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS: * All versions prior to 20.4R3-S8; * 21.1 versions 21.1R1 and later; * 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S6; * 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S5; * 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S5; * 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S4; * 22.2 versions p...

CVE-2023-44188

A Time-of-check Time-of-use (TOCTOU) Race Condition vulnerability in telemetry processing of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows a network-based authenticated attacker to flood the system with multiple telemetry requests, causing the Junos Kernel Debugging Streaming Daemon (jkdsd) process to crash, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS). Continued receipt and processing of telemetry requests will repeatedly crash the jkdsd process and sustain the Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue is seen on all Junos platforms. The crash is triggered when multiple telemetry requests come from different collectors. As the load increases, the Dynamic Rendering Daemon (drend) decides to defer processing and continue later, which results in a timing issue accessing stale memory, causing the jkdsd process to crash and restart. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS: * 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S9; * 21.1 versions 21.1R1 and later; * 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S6; * 21...

CVE-2023-40142: Pixel Update Bulletin—October 2023

In TBD of TBD, there is a possible way to bypass carrier restrictions due to a logic error in the code. This could lead to local escalation of privilege with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation.

Gaza Conflict: How Israeli Cybersecurity Will Respond

The Israeli-Hamas war will most assuredly impact businesses when it comes to ramped-up cyberattacks. Experts say that Israel's considerable collection of cybersecurity vendors be a major asset on the cyber-front.

Kernel Live Patch Security Notice LSN-0098-1

It was discovered that the IP-VLAN network driver for the Linux kernel did not properly initialize memory in some situations, leading to an out-of- bounds write vulnerability. An attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code. It was discovered that the virtual terminal driver in the Linux kernel contained a use-after-free vulnerability. A local attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly expose sensitive information (kernel memory). Various other issues were also addressed.

Debian Security Advisory 5522-1

Debian Linux Security Advisory 5522-1 - Several security vulnerabilities have been discovered in the Tomcat servlet and JSP engine.

Ubuntu Security Notice USN-6428-1

Ubuntu Security Notice 6428-1 - It was discovered that LibTIFF could be made to read out of bounds when processing certain malformed image files with the tiffcrop utility. If a user were tricked into opening a specially crafted image file, an attacker could possibly use this issue to cause tiffcrop to crash, resulting in a denial of service.

Red Hat Security Advisory 2023-5604-01

Red Hat Security Advisory 2023-5604-01 - The kernel packages contain the Linux kernel, the core of any Linux operating system. Issues addressed include denial of service, out of bounds write, and use-after-free vulnerabilities.
